CLIVE WILLIAMS

It is with great regret and sadness that we have to announce that Clive Williams passed away on November 4th.  Clive, as chairman and president, was for many years the backbone of the society; making available the boardroom at his business premises for committee meetings. Meetings which he conducted with gusto and panache.

Clive was awarded a lifelong presidency of the society in recognition of his unfailing enthusiasm for the club’s success.

On behalf of SMCS we would like to offer our sincere condolences to his wife, Janet and daughter Louise at the passing of this good and kind man.

The club history

In 1966 a group of enthusiasts; medal collectors, weapon collectors and miltary history enthusiasts met regularly in the Navigation Inn on Lancashire Hill in Stockport and The Stockport and District Arms Collectors’ Society was formed.

The club has flourished from then on and we still have members from these early beginnings. In 1996 the club’s title was changed to Stockport Militaria Collectors’ Society.

The club today

The club meets on the first Tuesday of the month, at the LMRCA Club on Edgeley Road, Stockport. There is a programme of speakers which cover the interests of most members and the club also runs its own Arms Fair.
